Echoes of Freedom

On October 16, 2024, Vienna will host the international conference "Solidarity with Political Prisoners," bringing together 150 participants, including human rights defenders, lawyers, former political prisoners and their families, as well as representatives of civil society, international organizations, and artists committed to advocating for human rights.
The goal of the conference is to discuss the pressing issues facing political prisoners, share research findings, and develop concrete strategies to support and protect their rights. Participants will engage in panel discussions, deep dialogues with former political prisoners, and gain practical tools for effective advocacy from leading human rights defenders and lawyers.
Additionally, the involvement of artists will add a powerful dimension to the event, using creative expression to highlight the struggles of political prisoners and raise global awareness. Art exhibitions, performances, and installations will serve as a means of telling the stories of those unjustly imprisoned, underscoring the resilience of the human spirit.
The event will take place at the University of Applied Arts Vienna (Die Angewandte), offering a unique opportunity to explore themes of solidarity and advocacy through both intellectual discourse and artistic engagement. The conference will also serve as a key platform for strengthening international connections and developing joint initiatives aimed at improving support for political prisoners and their families.
Join a dynamic network of activists, lawyers, human rights advocates, and artists ready to act and create real change in the lives of political prisoners around the world.
